    Electro-Optical Test Development Engineer
    Allentown, PA, United States
    Full-Time

    Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities
    • Participate in the software and hardware development, documentation and support of portions of the test plans for the optical modules and line cards used in a 2.4 TBit Photonics Integrated Circuit (PIC) based network solutions for C and L Band transmission
    • Define and configure required test instrumentation and hardware
    • Partner with product team to author and refine efficient optical calibration sequences
    • Develop VB.NET software to fully automate the test execution
    • Develop and support the automated manufacturing test infrastructure
    • Partner with engineering staff to define and implement detailed testability requirements
    • Provide fault isolation and identification capability to the manufacturing technical staff
    • Help drive end to end test yield improvements and test time reduction efforts

    Education / Experience
    • BS in science or engineering required, MS or PhD desired (Physics, Optics, Electrical Eng)
    • Previous experience in developing test and measurement solutions for electrical and optical components or subsystems is beneficial

    Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
    • Familiarity with phase/amplitude modulation theory is a requirement
    • Experience with Serdes, electrical RF testing, and FEC operation are all pluses
    • Programming experience in OO languages is required. VB.NET is preferred
    • Attention to detail and willingness to produce detailed test plan documentation
    • Experience with digital and mixed signal IC testing is beneficial
    • Experience with testing and characterizing photonic circuits containing I/Q modulators and demodulators is beneficial
    • Hands on experience with optical and electrical test and measurement equipment including programmable optical power meters, attenuators, and switches, optical spectrum analyzers, digital multi-meters and oscilloscopes is beneficial
